Mind the Gap: Strategies to close cybersecurity workforce and opportunity gaps

Dr. Sharon Jumper is the Cybersecurity Learning Architect at CDW’s Focal Point Academy. In this role, Dr. Jumper manages enterprise and academic partnerships, develops competency-based workforce development courses and programs, and conducts needs assessments related to risk management and cybersecurity for workforce development in both the public and private sectors. Dr. Jumper’s areas of subject matter expertise in cybersecurity focus on governance, risk management, and compliance. She has worked in Signals Intelligence Operations for the U.S. Army’s Intelligence and Security Command and the National Security Agency. Her career experience also includes work as an attorney in civil and criminal litigation. Dr. Jumper’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Wofford College, a Master of Public Administration from Walden University, a Juris Doctorate from Wake Forest University, and post-graduate certificates in Applied Project Management, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, and Adult Education from the University of Central Florida.

She is currently completing post-graduate studies in Cybersecurity from Harvard University Extension. She has held faculty and academic leadership appointments at several universities in the United States, Argentina, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, and China. Her current faculty appointments are at the University of California – Los Angeles, University of Maryland – Global Campus, and Bowie State University. Her academic and professional research has focused on adult education, post-conflict development, cyber risk mitigation, national security policy, and civil rights. As a professor, mentor, and workforce development leader, Dr. Jumper has helped thousands of learners to optimize their skills and succeed in a rapidly evolving workforce.
