Presentation: Responsible AI in Cybersecurity: Role of Public-Private Partnerships
Time: 11:00a – 11:30a
The use and application of AI in cybersecurity is rapidly increasing. Many companies and government agencies are strategizing as to how they can adopt AI as part of their broader cybersecurity strategy. Despite an uptick in recent years for government/private sector programs and initiatives to enhance cybersecurity education, awareness and the broader workforce, there is still a massive demand for cybersecurity investment/resources. “Public-private partnerships,” are often touted as a necessary component of cyber resiliency, but how will the opportunities and challenges posed by AI reshape the way we approach these partnerships? This topic meets the objectives of the General Cyber Resilience Awareness track because it brings light to an urgent need to bring together diverse perspectives across developers, cyber practitioners, regulators, and other stakeholders to work towards trustworthy and equitable solutions at the intersection of AI and cyber. This presentation aims to explore the following areas:
● What effect do we see the expanded use of AI having on our cyber capabilities across sectors?
● How can the government and private industry collaborate more effectively to leverage AI technologies and ensure that the U.S. remains on the leading edge of AI innovation and development?
● How should we think about ensuring that AI is built with trust, safety, and security at its core without overregulating and harming innovation?
