Fire-side Chat with Graduates of the Professional Certificate in Building Cyber Resilience 2024

Presenter: Dr. Margaret Banyan
Room: Redwood Auditorium, EMU 214, Level 2
Presentation: Cyber General Awareness – Fire-side Chat with Graduates of the Professional Certificate in Building Cyber Resilience
Time: 01:45p – 02:15p

Since 2022, the Professional Certificate in Building Cyber Resilience has been available at no charge to state, local, and tribal governments, agencies and organizations, special districts, and school districts. The Certificate uses a cohort-based case study approach to help participants learn about common cyber risks; how to identify, assess, and communicate cyber risks; and how to conduct the first step in mitigating threats through a risk assessment. Participants are not required to have a deep technical background. The intent of the Certificate is to create a unique shared learning experience that is approachable for non-technical practitioners. This session will hear from 3-4 participants from the past three year’s cohorts in a fire-side chat style setting. Certificate graduates will be asked to enter into a conversation with each other and the audience about how they have implemented the information from the Certificate in their agencies, how they have grown their cybersecurity knowledge and practices, and what lessons they have learned. The fire-side chat will allow for audience participation and questions. This session focuses on the themes for the track related to increasing cyber awareness and building workforce capacity through a collaborative, community-based approach.
